The closely related processes of environmental impact assessment and traditional regulatory activities for managing air and water pollution and hazardous waste are integrated with emphasis given to both methods of analysis and the process of environmental planning and management. The analytical and qualitative techniques needed for effective planning and managing are demonstrated. These Regulations implement provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act, with respect to, among other things, procedures for environmental impact assessment and public participation, and registration and certification of practitioners. They also concern the compliance with Code of Conduct by practitioners and specify in the Schedules: activities to which the Act shall apply.
These Regulations consolidate with amendments the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (“the Regulations”) and subsequent amending instruments. Regulation 4(4) of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations requires the assessment of significant effects to include, where relevant, the expected significant effects arising from the proposed development’s vulnerability to major accidents.
